Let your foods be your medicines, and your medicines your food - Hippocrates c.460 - 377 BC
I truly believe that we are what we eat. My own life experience has shown me this. When I have been in an unhealthy space and indulged in too much sugar or caffeine, for example, over a lengthened period of time, I have felt the effects in my body, in my thoughts, in my relationships - it affects me on all levels. I feel sluggish after some time and seem to lack enthusiasm and 'get up and go'. I have also felt the powerful and magical effects of eating healthily - I glow from inside out, and outside in. I am happy and love life!

- live to be 100 and be physically fit and active

consequences of NOT eating healthily:
Many people question the importance of healthy eating because they seem to be fine not having eaten healthily for many years. But, it so often happens that, all of a sudden, they don’t feel well; or perhaps they’ve been diagnosed with diabetes, heart disease or cancer or some other health challenges. They don’t understand it. What happened?
Well, simply put, it’s like this. We’re born with a reserve to protect us against some of the assaults against our body. Over time, as we abuse our body, we spend some of this reserve. Eventually, if we continue eating unhealthily, the entire reserve will be used up! We’re no longer able to get away with the indiscretions that we could when we were younger.
The problem is, we don’t know when our reserves will run out. It could be tomorrow, it could be in two weeks' time, or five or 10 years from now... Isn't it better to have a preventative attitude now and avoid suffering later? Not only that, shouldn't we live feeling absolutely vibrantly alive and healthy each and every day, rather than just okay and a little tired and stressed? Food is your body’s fuel. It should give your body what it needs to function properly.
Some presenting symptoms which may indicate that you’re not eating healthily:
headaches, indigestion, depression, candida, difficulty sleeping, poor memory, senile dementia, anorexia/bulimia, dry skin, adult acne, constipation, poor digestion, halitosis/bad breath, mouth/tongue ulcers, menstrual
problems, diarrhea, irritability, fatigue, polyps, diverticulitis, gallstones, osteoporosis, anemia, asthma, mental illness, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia...
developing healthy eating habits:
Healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring, difficult or time consuming. It doesn’t have to taste bland or distasteful. Eating healthily can be a delightful and delicious experience.
