stepping into freedom...
yoga with Lauren on yoga detox retreat
My introduction to Yoga was through the Sivananda tradition. As soon as
my very first class, I knew I had found something very special and close
to my heart. A spark had been ignited which would change the course of my life. For the first time, I had a direct experience of the connection and inexplicable link
between body, mind and Spirit. In this place of stillness, there was no longing; there was no thought; there was no 'me'; there was no 'other'. Only happiness. I felt so relaxed, and yet so
awake - more awake than I'd ever felt in my entire life! I was so happy, I felt close to bursting!
Continued and regular pratice at the London Sivananda Centre eventually led me to do my initial teacher training course at The Farm - the Sivananda Ashram in northern California. A few years later I completed the subsequent advanced teacher training course at the Dhanwantari Ashram in Kerala, India.

Over the past fifteen years, my studies and practice of Yoga have taken me all around the world - I have been humbled by many inspiring and influential teachers of various Yoga styles
and have been touched by the many beautiful gems within all approaches.
I studied Iyengar Yoga with Sharat Arora in Dharamsala and Ashtanga Vinyasa with William Robertson in London. I love the surrender of Yin Yoga, the devotion of Kundalini Yoga and the
heartfulness of Anusara Yoga. My classes tend to incorporate the jewels of wisdom from an eclectic
array of Yoga styles, as well as from my own journey on the mat, and
from Life itself.
Over the years I have taught a number of speciality groups: children's Yoga (Yoga Bugs), special needs Yoga, ante-natal Yoga, Yoga classes for the aged. My Yoga classes and Yoga retreats are suitable for all levels - I give various options or adaptations where needed.
In addition to my ongoing exploration of Hatha Yoga, I have also studied Sanskrit and Indian classical music at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Centre in London. In my pursuit of Vedanta (Yoga philosophy), I used to regularly attend satsung with Ramesh Balsekar in his home in Mumbai until he passed away in late 2009. For a deeper understanding and experience of rituals and devotion I lived in Swami Isa's ashram in Trivandrum, Kerala, India for a year (2001,2). For an immersion into meditation I attend a 10-day Vipassana meditation silent retreat each year.
I currently divide my time between UK, India, Turkey and Egypt where I teach and run retreats.
